Mauve Autumn Berries

Mauve Autumn Berries

The berries on this unidentified tree on Brighton’s Main Street passed through a short mauve phase. It’s an odd, artificial looking color as they move toward a blue-violet at maturity. The reddish cast on the autumn leaves is interesting, too.

Doug, I just love your compositions in color and light. When I began my interest in photography back in high school, I used to crawl all over the place looking for abstract “texture” shots and such. I remember lots of ice, dead tree limbs, water, rocks, weathered boards, peeling paint, etc. I still have all the negatives and slides. You have the eye….and you don’t have to wander far from home to capture a universe of images, do you?

Hi Jenny, I’m with you. I love textures. It’s very easy to be seduced by them because, the more you look, the more you see. You ought to have your negatives and slides digitized. It isn’t expensive these days. Then you could start your own blog to show them!

I appreciate the compliments. No, when it comes to things like textures, you really don’t have to go far to find them. I have a rusty van that I could spend a few hours photographing. :-)

But with this blog, I don’t want to focus on textures alone. I am having a good time presenting the mix of words and images. Also, there is the aspect of being a cub reporter of unnoticed events. I like putting the camera around my neck and going out without purpose. By doing that, everything is game. It’s a combination of the thrill-of-the-hunt and being open to what’s in front of me at the moment.

Thanks for commenting, Jenny. Keeping doing it!
