Ikebana Redux

More than a month ago, I posted an image of this arrangement. It’s still intact after several storms. There’s more snow now, more drifting, and scars of freezings and thawings yet it endures as a small winter footnote. Silent. Fragile.

Did you notice that in photo of first slushy Ikebana there was a little snowy hand with thumb wrapped around twig to hold it up? In this photo the twig stands alone in a more beautiful composition. There is a message there somewhere.

I hadn’t noticed the thumb until you mentioned it. There seems to be ‘balance’ in both images even though they are quite different. Nature tends to balance itself if given half a chance. Since this is in the millpond where humans don’t touch it, it can evolve. I’ll keep checking on it and take other photos if conditions bring any more surprises.
